Digital Transactions:TJX Cos. Inc., parent company of T.J. Maxx and Marshalls, is talking more about the database intrusion that put credit and debit information at risk, but it says it still isn't sure about the actual number of compromised accounts. Initial estimates put the figure as high as 40 million, but industry sources say nothing is confirmed yet. TJX says the intrusion occurred sometime in July 2005, "and on various subsequent dates in 2005." A company statement adds that "TJX continues to believe there was no compromise of customer data after mid-December 2006."
