Three states report major ATM skimming attacks

BankInfoSecurity reports that three ATM-skimming operations in Maryland, Illinois and Georgia have resulted in losses exceeding more than $120,000. Maryland State Police say an ATM skimmer was placed on a Bank of America ATM in Eldersburg, Md., and that up to $30,000 could have been taken last week.
In Illinois, thieves used a B of A ATM to steal $20,000 from a drive-up ATM in Mt. Prospect. And in Buffalo Grove, Ill., more than $70,000 was reported taken from an ATM at a Chase Bank branch.
In Savannah-Chatham, Ga., police were tipped off about skimming devices on B of A ATMs. The alleged amounts taken from customer accounts there was not reported by BankInfoSecurity.
