TAWPI publishes guide to back-office check conversion

BOSTON - The Association for Work Process Improvement and its Payments Capture & Clearing Council have released a new publication, "Back Office Conversion: A Practical Guide for Payments Processing Professionals." Written by members of the PCC Council, TAWPI says the new guide explains the role of back-office conversion, commonly referred to as BOC, and how to evaluate, deploy and manage the process.
"The introduction of Back Office Conversion has generated tremendous interest," said TAWPI president Frank Moran. "With the new process, there are a number of issues associated with operations, technology, implementation, human resources, fraud and others that are important to understand."
Under BOC rules, retailers and other billers can convert eligible checks to Automated Clearing House debits in a controlled environment in the back-office.
