Taiwanese have more ATM cards

Taiwan News: Each person in Taiwan owned an average of 5.7 ATM cards at the end of November 2005, 10 times the level in 1991, according to a report released by the Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics. Local financial institutions had issued 130 million ATM cards by the end of November, an increase of 17.5 percent from the same period in 2004. As of November, Taiwan also had 24,000 ATMs, up 13.2 percent from a year earlier. That averaged out to an estimated 1,055 ATMs per million people, compared with 150 ATMs per million in 1991, according to the report.
