Symstream offers new networking solution for ATMs

The Jakarta (Indonesia) Post:In Australia, banks are moving to the next generation of ATM connectivity, from the leased line and dial-up connection to GPRS and satellite-based very small aperture terminal systems, to send and receive ATM transaction data. But the GPRS solution does not guarantee that all traffic will conform to an agreed-upon standard. To get around the lack-of-an-industry-standard issue impacting GPRS, Australia-based Symstream Technologies is using the voice channel of the GSM network. Mobile operators always give the voice channel over GPRS, because voice calls generate more revenue than GPRS data traffic.
