Swiss FI taps Diebold Nixdorf for mobile ATM access — and more

June 2, 2017

PostFinance AG, a Swiss bank, is upgrading its self-service network with new technology, monitoring software and services from Diebold Nixdorf.

The new systems will be equipped with barcode and NFC readers that will facilitate contactless transactions via smartphone, according to a press release. All told, the bank will install 820 Diebold Nixdorf ATMs and cash-recycling systems, to be supported by an 8-year service agreement with the manufacturer.

PostFinance "Postomats" already offer an array of advanced services such as the ability to purchase credit for iTunes, Paysafecard, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Spotify and Twint. Their self-service functionality will be expanded further with mobile access and cash recycling for both currency and coins.

"With the introduction of a new generation of self-service systems from Diebold Nixdorf, we are creating conditions that enable our customers to withdraw cash conveniently at Postomats in the future, including contactless withdrawals or those made with smartphones," Peter Lacher, head of operations and member of the executive board of PostFinance, said in the release.

Diebold Nixdorf monitoring software will simplify service management and increase ATM network availability for PostFinance, as well, the release said. The software analyzes status information from the banks systems and determines whether the issue can be resolved remotely — an approach that can reduce maintenance costs.
