Spanish bank signs deal with NCR for Gasper software

May 21, 2006

BARCELONA, Spain - Spanish savings banks El Monte signed a deal with NCR Corp. to implement NCR's self-service management solution, GasperVantage, to optimize its network of 550 ATMs.

According to a news release, online management of the bank's ATMs is expected to increase transaction profitability by using an integrated system of ticketing and notifications. Gasper Manager will analyze ATM status codes, supervising notifications and sending them to the appropriate service team. It also allows commands to be sent directly to the terminals and can send early alerts to carry out proactive management of incidents.

"The implementation of the new system in our extensive self-service network will optimize the performance, control and management of our ATMs, maximizing the effectiveness of their transactions and their availability by means of an optimal analysis of the channel," El Monte's chief of technological services, Juan José Enríquez, said.

Remote command management and automation increases ATM availability, as Gasper Vantage sends commands directly to the self-service device. It reduces help-desk costs by issuing commands from the browser workstation.

"Command Manager is linked with other systems," Félix Jiménez, Gasper's sales manager in Iberia, said "It uses a terminal emulation to enter in another system and interact with it, looking for key sentences in the screen simulating the use of a keyboard imitating the actions that a person would carry out. Also, the user can personalize this Web-based interface by means of terminal emulations, emission of commands and sequence of interfaces."

The Transaction Monitor option provides comprehensive way for El Monte to monitor its transaction rates, uncovering and resolving self-service network problems before customers report them. It will allow monitoring and identifying of unusual transaction activity and taking action to correct it automatically.

When abnormal conditions are detected in the transactions, the system automatically takes action. Transaction data summaries are stored on a per-hour, per-day basis for analysis and reporting, the cash disbursement and replenishment amounts are sent to cash forecasting tools for timely and accurate forecasting of cash level requirements, and the flexible reporting provides multiple views of El Monte's ATM data. The cost of distributing cash can decrease by up to 50 percent.
