South African banks gearing to issue EMV cards

ePaynews.com:South Africa's banks are expected to switch customers to EMV chip cards in the next half-year. Banks had to adapt customer-facing channels such as ATMs, POS terminals and bank branches for EMV transactions before undertaking wide-reaching EMV chip card issuance. South Africa has 4 million to 6 million credit cards - a total expected to increase quickly as the market grows.
