Smart Card Alliance launches 'EMV Connection' website

July 10, 2012

Payments industry stakeholders now have a website dedicated to helping with the U.S. migration to EMV chip technology. In a press announcement, Smart Card Alliance said it was launching emv-connection.com as a source for up-to-date information on the status of EMV migration, along with tutorials and educational resources to assist with migration.

"EMV Connection places our entire extensive library of EMV resources in one place, for the first time, on an easy-to-navigate website, and adds new educational material to help bring everyone up-to-speed for this important transition," said Randy Vanderhoof, executive director of the Smart Card Alliance.

EMV Connection is designed to serve a number of audiences — issuers, merchants, payment processors/acquirers and consumers — with information such as FAQs answers, white papers, videos, slideshows, and links to other EMV resources:

  • Issuers can get a head start on EMV migration with tutorials and implementation guidance featuring global best practices.
  • Merchants can learn about the impact EMV will have at the POS and discover how to manage EMV chip data in their retail operations.
  • Acquirers and processors can plan their EMV migration to meet the April 2013 liability shift deadline.
  • Consumers can learn how EMV helps to reduce fraud and protect their transactions, and also find out how contact and contactless EMV cards work.

EMV Connection also includes news and blog sections covering breaking U.S. EMV news and offering perspectives from industry experts.
