Sheetz chain strikes ATM deal with PNC Bank

November 15, 2013

Family-owned convenience store chain Sheetz Inc. has entered an agreement with PNC Bank to provide in-store ATMs in locations across six states. The ATMs will offer surcharge-free access to PNC customers.

PNC will provide more than 480 ATMs at Sheetz locations in Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. This will include more than 40 machines with DepositEasy capabilities that allow PNC customers to cash checks and deposit stacks of cash or checks without an envelope.

"Our customers are busier than ever," said Sheetz president and CEO Joe Sheetz. "They have more do to, less time to do it and as a result are looking for the most efficient ways to get what they need. The PNC DepositEasy capabilities give Sheetz an advantage because customers can come to our stores and accomplish many, if not all, of their daily tasks in one stop."

The PNC ATMs will be installed during January and February of 2014. Sheetz customers will not be charged a fee for using the PNC machines but may still be charged by their own bank.

"PNC and Sheetz have a longstanding relationship and are always looking for innovative ways to make things more convenient for our customers," said Todd Barnhart, EVP of branch banking at PNC Bank. "The surcharge-free ATMs are a great benefit for all Sheetz customers and the convenience offered by the Sheetz locations further helps PNC customers to bank when and where they want."

Altoona, Penn.-based Sheetz operates nearly 480 locations in total, and reported more than $6.6 billion in revenue for 2013. The stores are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
