Seiko Instruments' new ATM printer cuts maintenance time, expense
September 20, 2007
TORRANCE, Calif. - Seiko Instruments USA Inc., Micro Printer Division, has announced the launch of its APU-9347 three-inch direct thermal printer.
According to a news release, the new printer delivers 150 kilometers of output and 1,000,000 cuts - a 50 percent lifespan improvement for the print mechanism and auto-cutter.
Seiko says the support for a 10-inch paper roll means fewer maintenance trips, more application uptime and lower operating costs.
"The APU-9347 is a product of our commitment to listening to what customers want and developing innovative solutions to meet those needs," said Bob Falco, manager of Seiko Instruments' Micro Printer Division.
Requiring no additional parts to support a 10-inch diameter paper roll, the printer accelerates transaction times with up to 8 inches (200 millimeter) per second, using a tension control and brake mechanism to avoid paper jams and wrinkled or illegible output.
The new APU-9347, offered with USB and Serial connectivity, is based on the Seiko Instruments CAP9000 mechanism. The unit offers 203 dpi resolution, and supports a wide range of paper thicknesses and formats, for printing receipts, tickets and labels.
