Scotiabank will add 500 Cardtronics cash machines to the bank's ATM network as part of an expanded ATM branding relationship between the FI and the IAD. The ATMs are already a part of the Cardtronics portfolio, and therefore will not represent an increase in ATM count for the company.
However, the partnership with Cardtronics will expand the Scotiabank Mexico ATM network to more than 2,000 ATMs — all surcharge-free to accountholders. The 500 newly branded machines are located in major convenience stores across the country, Cardtronics said in an announcement of the deal.
"Scotiabank's focus in expanding our ATM network is to give our customers quick, easy and convenient access to their cash," said Carlos Lomeli, senior vice president of retail banking at Scotiabank Mexico, part of Canada's Scotiabank. "We want to be where our customers are and having ATMs in high traffic locations like convenience stores helps ensure that our customers can find us where and when they need us."
"In 2010, when Scotiabank signed its first ATM branding agreement with Cardtronics, we spoke of establishing a framework to brand additional ATMs in other international Scotiabank markets," said Rick Updyke, president, of the North America business group at Cardtronics. "Now, an ATM branding relationship which brought together Scotiabank and Cardtronics less than three years ago in Puerto Rico has expanded twice and today encompasses more than 1,100 ATMs spread across three North American countries."
