Retail veteran joins ArcaTech advisory council

April 27, 2010

ArcaTech Systems has announced the appointment of longtime retail executive Paul C. Butka to the company's Retail Advisory Council.   "Paul's experience and advice will be immeasurably beneficial to us," said ArcaTech founder and president Mort O'Sullivan. "We're honored and gratified to have him on our team."   As a member of the council, Butka will advise ArcaTech on its retail solutions: a suite of integrated cash recycling and software products that optimizes retail cash operations by automating in-store cash handling and improving management of funds across the enterprise.   Butka recently retired from The TJX Companies after 35 years. During his tenure, Butka worked in several areas of the corporation, serving as director of systems, chief information officer and executive vice president of global application development. He brings to the panel extensive experience in information technology infrastructure, application standardization, compliance and security.    "As Paul can attest, current methods of retail cash management are costly and inefficient, so we're creating automation solutions that are fast, secure and practical to deploy and use," said Jim Halpin, ArcaTech's director of retail solutions. "With our technology and his firsthand IT systems knowledge, we're confident that our solutions will improve cash ordering, transportation, handling, depositing, safeguarding and management."   An expert in application development and deployment, Butka will make recommendations regarding communication protocols, data protection and application deployment.   "At TJX, I was responsible for complex, critical applications around the world — it was one of the toughest and most satisfying things I've ever done," said Butka. "I thrive on professional challenges, and now I'm ready for a new challenge from ArcaTech."
