Oki Electric releases multifunctional ATM

February 24, 2002

TOKYO -- Oki Electric Co. has introduced a multifunctional ATM that is able to perform both conventional and electronic transactions, according to the Nikkei Industrial Daily. The Tokyo company has priced the CP 21 from 3.9 million yen, with sales targeted at 20,000 units in the first three years.

The ATM can be used for online shopping, IC and debit card account settlement, air and other ticket issuance and other electronic services, in addition to handling standard banking, brokerage and insurance services, the company said.

Despite the machine's large display, it occupies 40% less space than regular ATMs.
