NYCE's SUM surcharge-free ATM network expands
August 14, 2008
SECAUCUS, N.J. — NYCE has announced that the 15-subsidiary community banks of Wintrust Financial Corp. in Lake Forest, Ill., as well as AMCORE Bank, based in Rockford, Ill., have joined the SUM (Saves U Money) selective ATM-surcharging program provided by the NYCE Payments Network LLC.
The NYCE Payments Network is a U.S. debit-card-payments network and a Metavante company. Metavante is a provider of banking and payments technology.
The SUM program now includes nearly 200 ATMs in Greater Chicago, northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.
The SUM (which stands for "Saves U Money") Program is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. It counts more than 500 other financial institutions in 27 states, including Puerto Rico. The offering allows cardholders of participating FIs to make surcharge-free withdrawals at nearly 2,900 designated ATMs of other SUM members.
Unlike other surcharge-free programs that require institutions to pay card royalty fees on their entire card base, the SUM Program fee structure is primarily based on usage. Participating institutions also may select the ATMs they wish to include in the program.
