Seneca Falls, New York-based Generations Bank has officially opened its newest branch, located in Farmington. The new facility is the area's first "tellerless" bank, thanks to five interactive teller units fromNCR Corp., according to a news release.

"This is our first bank branch that has no teller line," Generations Bank President and CEO Menzo D. Case said in the release. "We're using cutting-edge banking technology to efficiently handle all daily banking transactions. No one is going to be tied up in a teller line."

The NCR Interactive Teller machines allow a live teller to take remote control of the device while engaging the customer over two-way video. The solution offers a broader range of services than an ATM or other self-service device, according to NCR.

For instance, customers can perform secure transactions without using a traditional ATM card and, like branch tellers, remote tellers can provide cash beyond ATM limits, assist in mortgage payments, transfers and more.

In addition to "no-wait" traditional teller transactions, customers enjoy greater access to bank personnel for detailed financial matters, the release said. Staff on site include a branch manager and business development officer, with five additional employees including business development, investment and insurance advisors and two personal bankers.

"[O]ur employees are able to provide more meaningful services, ranging from account openings to insurance reviews and financial planning," Case said.

The branch also houses a "Smart Office," which offers banking assistance via live video remote with a Generations Bank representative when an in-branch specialist is not available.
