NCR to help Swedbank apply multichannel strategy across Baltics

May 15, 2014

Stockholm-based Swedbank and NCR Corp. are extending their 20-year relationship as the two team up to extend the FI’s multichannel banking strategy across Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Swedbank will use APTRA Edge software from NCR to implement ATM applications across the bank's ATM network in 206 branches throughout the region. NCR and its partner Hansab will also upgrade more than 150 of the FI’s older NCR ATMs with NCR SelfServ 22, 25 and 31 units. The upgraded ATMs will feature cash recycling capabilities intended to help Swedbank reduce cash management and delivery costs. Hansab will continue to maintain NCR ATMs for Swedbank in all three countries.

“Responding to customer demand for an increasingly technologybased service, as well as educating them on the benefits of modern banking channels, is fundamental to our business,” said Mihkel Roosme, head of the multichannel management division at Swedbank. “To ensure that our multichannel banking strategy delivers on this, we needed a highly integrated software and hardware solution. We have partnered with NCR for more than 20 years, so they are tuned in to our business and provide the high value solutions that turn our strategy into a reality.”

NCR APTRA Edge performs functions that include managing the ATM network and building customer relationships. The solution uses a Windows-based XFS interface, facilitating an open software environment and making it vendor independent.
