NCR Corp. is planning to downsize its research and development staff in Dundee, Scotland by 70 members. According to The Courier, NCR confirmed the staff reduction, saying that it was part of a larger operational alignment.
The cut would represent around 17 percent of the employee count in Dundee, which the Courier estimated to be around 400. After announcing the likely reduction, the company said it planned a 30-day consultation period to sort out job redundancies.
Once one of the largest industrial employers in Dundee, NCR has significantly reduced its presence there in the last half-dozen years, the Courier said. The company reduced the workforce by hundreds of jobs in 2007 and discontinued ATM assembly operations in 2009.
