NCR, PBOC ink 5-year services agreement for Shanghai Automatic Clearing Center

April 16, 2013

NCR Corp. has been awarded a 5-year technology service contract by the People's Bank of China Shanghai Automatic Clearing Center, the company said today in a news release. NCR will provide on-site technical support and maintenance services for the center's intra-city clearing systems, which handle an average of 100,000 checks daily.

The Shanghai facility is one of China's largest check clearing centers, equipped with five NCR E1700 imaging transports and two NCR iTRAN ImageTrac III color imaging transports for check inward service for commercial banks and multi-size voucher processing.

Both systems were installed by NCR (in 2005 and 2007, respectively) and have been maintained by the company since. Through the new service agreement, NCR will provide technical on-site support during daily clearing hours as well as 24-hour hardware replacement if needed.

"We continue to rely on NCR for its services support, because NCR possesses strong expertise for building and maintaining cheque clearing systems," said Wu Keyi, director of the Shanghai Automatic Clearing Center. "We are confident that NCR will ensure the availability of our check clearing in making our lives and the lives of our customers easier."

"We have been committed to offering check clearing solutions to China since NCR built the first check clearing system for PBOC Guangzhou Branch in 1996," said Jimmy Zheng, general manager for NCR Services in Greater China. "We are proud to support the smooth running of the ever-increasing demand for check clearing needs in Shanghai."
