NCR Corp. has opened its new R&D facility in the Indian city of Hyderabad. The center in Mindspace IT Park in Hitec City occupies 140,000 square feet, making it the company's largest R&D center outside the U.S., according to a press release.
The new space houses 1,200 employees working on solutions for channel transformation and digital enablement, and includes collaborative workspaces, state-of-the-art labs, and amenities such as a gym, recreation facilities, a café and informal work spaces, the release said.
The Hyderabad R&D center, which launched in 2004 with 50 employees, has been responsible for a host of innovations, including the Interactive Teller ATM; EMV contactless ATM; mobile payments solutions; retail self-checkout lanes; CRM platforms; cinema and stadium systems management solutions; and more.
"Changes in consumer behavior continue to be rapid, disruptive, and driven by technology transformation," Paul Langenbahn, NCR executive vice president for software, said at an opening event. "NCR's R&D center in Hyderabad will focus on the development of innovative technologies to assist our customers across the industries NCR serves, and the incredible talent we have available in the region will enable us to do so."
In addition to the R&D Center in Hyderabad, NCR facilities in India include a manufacturing plant in Chennai, a development center in Gurgaon, and sales and services headquarters in Mumbai.
