NCR, First Data partner in strategic agreement

First Data will offer cybersecurity and payment processing solutions to some NCR customers; NCR will offer ATM hardware and services to First Data FI clients.

November 16, 2015

First Data and NCR Corp. have entered into a strategic commercial agreement, the companies announced in a press release.

Under the agreement, First Data will serve as a preferred provider of cybersecurity and payment processing solutions to NCR customers in the grocery, petroleum and convenience store sectors. NCR will serve as a preferred provider of ATM hardware and services to First Data's 4,000-plus FI clients.

The agreement includes an enterprise license for NCR CxBanking software — such as APTRA applications and NCR Kalpana.

The companies also will pursue codevelopment of integrated commerce technology solutions for U.S. merchant clients, the release said.

Further, the companies will collaborate on a payments security infrastructure that integrates TransArmor Data Protection from First Data with the Epsilon and Connected Payments Gateway from NCR, which provides a secure routing technology delivered as an SaaS solution.

"We believe this new relationship will help drive revenue growth, reduce costs, and improve security for our customers," said NCR Chairman and CEO Bill Nuti. "As payment security continues to drive decision-making among CIOs and CTOs, NCR and First Data's unique payment security software will create a winning combination for retailers."

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
