PakTribune: Minister for Information Technology Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari said a proposal by NCR Corporation to set up a global consulting center in Islamabad was a sign of Pakistan's rapidly maturing IT industry.
During a meeting with Leghari, Stelios FragKos, vice-president of NCR's Middle East Africa region of the NCR Corporation, briefed the minister on NCR's initiative of setting up a center in Islamabad. A hundred local professionals are currently employed there, and the number will double within the next 12 months.
"These young Pakistanis have made a name for themselves in the global NCR network, and we are extremely pleased with the decision that NCR had taken a year or so ago, to make Pakistan a base to which outsource our key IT related work," he said.
Stelios said NCR is considering setting up a software development center in Karachi which would specialize in providing solutions for ATMs in the region and beyond.
