National City absorbs Florida bank's ATMs, branches

March 21, 2007

FORT PIERCE, Fla. - National City Corp. announced tall Harbor Federal branches and ATMs in Florida (part of Harbor Florida Bancshares Inc.) are now part of the National City network. National City acquired Harbor Federal in December 2006.

With the conversion of Harbor Federal and the pending conversion of Fidelity Federal, which is set for April 14, National City's network will include 95 branches and 119 ATMs along Florida's east coast.

According to a news release, National City plans to add between 20 and 30 new branches to its existing network in Florida over the next three years. The first branch is expected to open in early summer in Bayside Lakes; another branch is slated for later this year in Port St. Lucie. Plans also include the addition of three new branches in Naples and West Palm Beach.

National City has replaced all of its ATMs in Florida with new terminals that provide capabilities like personalization.
