Member Access Processing, a card processing company for credit unions, has announced it will install cash recycling at its ATMs. With this feature, the ATM will check deposited cash for authenticity, sort by denomination and then store it in the cash dispenser, according to a press release.
"Installing cash recycling affords credit unions increased efficiency, security and cost savings," Joyce Carter, chief customer officer, Member Access Processing, said in the release. "While members will not notice the change, Cash Recycling allows the credit union to extend it cash replenishment cycle, reducing the risk and cost that comes for restocking cash at an ATM."
Other credit unions are also embracing cash recyclers due to the ability to save both time and resources. Mark Suacillo, VP of IT, facilities and security, Cooperative Center Federal Union, said in a past story on ATM Marketplace that cash recyclers were especially helpful for handling customer deposits.
"It's also helped to lower our staffing costs. For example, tellers were spending as much as an hour after closing balancing cash," Suacillo said. "Since we installed the TCRs, we've been able to cut that time down to around 15 minutes. Employees appreciate being able to leave earlier. Management likes the fact we have been able to cut overtime expenses."
