UL has announced that its UL EMV card personalization validation tool is ready for testing of both contact and contactless payment cards according to the MasterCard CPV 9.2 card personalization validation process.
Before introducing new EMV contact or contactless cards and mobile payment applications, MasterCard issuers must obtain MasterCard approval for card personalization validation. The CPV service is mandatory and ensures that MasterCard-branded payment products meet personalization requirements as specified by MasterCard.
The UL EMV Personalization Validation Tool is qualified by MasterCard for testing in accordance with MasterCard Card Personalization Validation 9.2 Test Tool requirements.
The tool allows issuers to store, validate, retrieve and examine all personalization data of EMV smart card applications, including chip, magnetic stripe, embossing data, asymmetric keys and PIN.
"Wizard" functionality guides the user through the entire card personalization validation process, simplifying preparation for the formal CPV session.
Further, the UL EMV Personalization Validation Tool can derive XML card image files from the sample under test, which MasterCard requires for the CPV service.
MasterCard approval means that the personalization validation tool may now be used t9 check any EMV card application, secure element application or cloud-based payment application according to the latest specifications from EMVCo, MasterCard, Visa, JCB, Discover, UnionPay and providers.
