Kinderhook Bank finds transformation inspiration for its newest branch

With help from the Diebold advisory services team and advanced ATM technology, the FI has reinvented the branch experience for its new location in downtown Albany, New York.

September 18, 2014

Kinderhook Bank, an Albany, New York-area FI, has moved into the state's capital city with a transformed branch model developed in collaboration with Diebold Inc.

The "reimagined" branch in downtown Albany features an intimate layout that streamlines consumer visits and encourages relationship building, according to a news release.

The Diebold advisory services team helped the bank determine the design and flow for its new location, creating an environment that offers customers both staff-assisted and self-service options.

An in-lobby teller terminal and an exterior walk-up ATM will allow consumers to complete automated cash and check deposits, as well as other transactions. Inside the branch, consumers will have the option to use the ILT or work directly with a teller.

"Diebold's newest branch transformation technology gives [customers] the opportunity to manage more transactions on their own," Kinderhook CEO John A. Balli said in the release. "As they do, our staff will have more time to assist with more complex needs and build deeper relationships."

According to Raja Bose, Diebold VP of branch transformation and advisory services, the idea was to allow customers to get in and out of the branch easily for routine transactions.

"But we also wanted to encourage interaction," he said. "The setup also affords staff the time to better understand consumers' needs and promote additional financial services."

According to the release, Kinderhook Bank plans to open its eighth location in Latham, New York, later in 2014 following a model similar to the downtown Albany location.
