JCB International Credit Card Co. Ltd., the Americas subsidiary of Japan-based international payment brand JCB Co. Ltd., recently announced the certification of its EMV application identifier for acceptance in the United States by Global Payments Inc.
"We are extremely pleased to achieve our first U.S. EMV acceptance certification," JCBUSA EVP Dan Skaling said in a statement. "Being able to give our cardholders this same safety and security when making purchases in the United States is a top priority."
Combining JCB's J/Smart AID with other card brand application identifiers has minimal processor resource impact during certification, while providing a substantially broader EMV card acceptance footprint for U.S. merchants, the release said.
Founded in 1961, JCB today claims 87 million cardholders and an acceptance network of 26 million merchants in 190 countries and territories.
