INTERVIEW: Fraud victim describes mistrust of ATMs in Nigeria
August 11, 2008
AllAfrica.com:The public's perception of ATM services in Nigeria is not positive, says Dr. Odiba Innocent Monday, an ATM user interviewed by AllAfrica. Dr. Monday has sworn never to use an ATM again, after his bank account was debited 40,000 naira (U.S. $338) instead of the 20,000 naira (U.S. $169) he actually withdrew. And he says he's not the only one. Dr. Monday claims similar cases are happening all over Nigeria, and several of his friends and colleagues are now steering clear of ATMs in favor of their checkbooks.
