India's RuPay cards to go global in July

The National Payments Corporation of India recently announced an agreement with Discover Financial Services that will take India's new RuPay debit card international by July.

According to a report by India Times, in coming months, RuPay global cards will be issued and accepted on the Discover, Diners Club International and PULSE networks for purchases and cash access outside India.

NPCI and Discover also announced the implementation of acceptance of Discover and Diners' Club cards in India on NPCI national financial switch. This enables access by Discover and Diners Clubcard holders to more than 85,000 ATMs across India.

Eventually acceptance will be enabled for Discover and Diners Club cards access at Indian POS terminals, as well.
