NEW ALBANY, Ind. - First Independence Bank, which has eight branches in Southern Indiana, is promoting its ATM Advantage checking account as one that will allow customers to use any ATM throughout the United States free of charge.
According to a Sept. 19 news release, for those who hold the new account, the bank is waiving foreign ATM fees and reimbursing customers for charges from acquiring institutions.
"We've long been irked, as our customers are, at the enormous ATM fees other banks force on our customers," said Bill White, First Independence's chief executive. "This is our way of fighting back."
