FIS intros Code Connect gateway to online APIs

FIS has introduced FIS Code Connect, an online gateway that allows clients to access the company's application programming interfaces for use in developing and testing solutions designed to serve customers, reduce costs and reach business goals, according to a press release.

The initial launch of FIS Code Connect includes more than 300 APIs for banking, payments and consumer finance. The gateway also offers access to application use cases built on FIS open APIs, including FIS Enterprise Customer, Mobile Banking and Account Opening.

As FIS and its key partners add more APIs and application use cases to the portal, Code Connect will provide a growing ecosystem for use in accelerating financial and payment technology innovation.

“Financial institutions large and small are embracing open APIs to increase the pace of customer-focused financial innovation and better compete with alternative fintech providers,” FIS Chief Operating Officer Anthony Jabbour said in the release. “Code Connect provides our clients with a platform to tap into the large and growing ecosystem of technologies and solutions being developed by FIS and our partners. Code Connect puts FIS clients squarely at the forefront of the open API revolution.”

"Banks are recognizing the need to work with external partners to deliver high-value products, services and experiences to their customers … ,’” said Jerry Silva, director of global banking research at IDC Financial Insights. "Modernizing the core system through open APIs is a way to strategically position banks to achieve greater customer acquisition and loyalty, and provide the experiences that today's customers demand."
