First Bank of Nigeria initiates cashless ATM service

August 6, 2012

First Bank of Nigeria Plc. has implemented a cardless ATM transfer service. The service allows accountholders to send funds to individuals who do not have a bankcard or bank account.

An article at Leadership said the bank issued a statement saying that the service supported the cashless policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria by extending financial inclusion to the un- and underbanked.

"With this innovative offering, our existing and prospective customers now have another platform to enjoy hitch-free money transfer services," the publication quoted Bisi Onasanya, managing director of First Bank, as saying.

FBN head of marketing and corporate communication, Folake Ani-Mumuney, said the new offering allows poor and rural populations in Nigeria to take advantage of the bank's range of financial services.
