Fime wins Discover accreditation for EMV testing in EMEA

The demand for D-PAS products is growing globally, Discover says.

June 16, 2015

Fime has announced that its operation in EMEA is now accredited by Discover to certify that EMV chip cards and terminals meet the functional requirements outlined by the payment system in its D-PAS and Discover Network Zip Payment specifications.

Discover accreditation for EMEA significantly expands the ability of Fime to work with chip and terminal manufacturers, the company said.

"Compliance to these specifications ensures that Discover and Diners Club cards and terminals operate as intended once live in the marketplace," said Vincent Poty, head of strategy and corporate development at Fime. "We predict demand for these services to be high as the deployment of EMV continues globally."

Soumya Chakrabarty, director of research and development at Discover, said that the company is seeing growing demand for D-PAS products.

"[We] anticipate further significant uptake in the coming years," he said. "Global and experienced partners are essential to support our vendors worldwide as they seek to qualify products quickly.

Discover Global Network is the third largest payments network in the world, operating in 185 countries and territories worldwide, the release said.
