Indonesia's Bank Antardaerah has become the first commercial bank in that country to complete certification under the National Standard Indonesia Chip Card Specification Issuer and Acquirer certification with the Prima shared network.

According to a press release from Euronet Software Solutions, a division of electronic payments provider Euronet Worldwide Inc., only banks piloting NSICCS had received this certification previously.

Euronet and its Indonesian partner, PT Sigma Cipta Caraka, worked with Bank Antardaerah to implement system modifications needed to support chip card-based ATM and debit transactions. Bank of Indonesia has mandated NSICCS certification for all of the country's banks by Jan. 1, 2016.

NCICCS certification allows Bank Antardaerah to issue chip-enabled prepaid and debit cards on behalf of its financial institution members, as well as to drive ATMs and offer enhanced services such as Internet banking and mobile phone top-up.
