DVD Play inks service deal with Diebold
March 1, 2007
NORTH CANTON, Ohio - DVDPlay Inc., operator of DVD rental kiosks, has signed an exclusive service agreement with Diebold Inc.'s Diebold Premier Services division for the installation, maintenance and support for DVDPlay's network of DVD movie-rental kiosks.
According to a news release, the deal covers more than 3,000 kiosks DVDPlay expects to install this year.
"DVD movie-rental kiosks provide our customers with the convenience of renting a DVD in locations where they shop for other products," said Chuck Berger, chairman and chief executive of DVDPlay. "Our goal is to have virtually 100-percent uptime at our kiosks and address any problems in hours, not days. Diebold Premier Services helped us to create a strong service support strategy to deliver on that commitment."
The kiosks under the agreement will be installed in supermarkets and high-traffic retail locations throughout North America.
"This agreement represents a significant development for Diebold Premier Services," said Chuck Ducey, Diebold's senior vice president of global development and service. "The retail market for DVDPlay kiosks is growing very rapidly, because this technology is quickly being adopted by consumers. Installation and maintenance needs for these kiosks closely match Diebold's ATM service model, so we are well-positioned to provide these services."
