The future for Diebold Nixdorf will be dominated, not by ATMs, but by software, a direction driven by priorities of the financial institutions the company serves.
According to a report by The Independent, DN is looking to build on existing strong relationships with banks moving forward.
"They are a big spenders in technology and we have an existing relationship — that's a [more] natural starting point than to try and reinvent ourselves into a different sector," CEO Gerrard Schmid said in a meeting with Canton-area reporters.
Currently, software and services comprise two-thirds of Diebold Nixdorf revenues. Schmid believes that the segment has the capacity to grow to 80 percent of revenue, the report said.
Schmid additionally said that the company plans to sell off noncore businesses in order to achieve the financial liquidity needed to expand its software capabilities through acquisitions.
As a global technology leader and innovative services provider, Diebold Nixdorf delivers the solutions that enable financial institutions to improve efficiencies, protect assets and better serve consumers.
