Diebold joins GlobalPlatform as observer member

GlobalPlatform, the organization that standardizes the management of applications on secure chip technology, announced that integrated self-service systems and security provider Diebold Inc. has become its latest Observer Member. 

Diebold will take a keen interest in the activities of the GlobalPlatform Advisory Council and the Mobile Task Force, with a particular focus on advances in mobile financial services.

Said Mark Reinart, Diebold manager of software and services product management, "Diebold's GlobalPlatform membership is an important investment. It will allow Diebold to observe the direction of specifications so that we are able to better advise our customers on migration paths for the future. We will use our involvement in GlobalPlatform to proactively plan for technology changes that might impact automated teller machines. This will enable us to advance our solutions services around technological improvements."
