NORTH CANTON, Ohio --Diebold Inc. will install, own and operate ATMs at more than 200 on-campus retail outlets operated by Barnes & Noble College Bookstores, according to a Diebold news release.
The Diebold program, designed for locations with more than 500 monthly transactions, operates at no cost to the bookstore operator. A portion of transaction revenue is paid to the store.
Seven sites are targeted in the initial phase of the rollout, and deployments have already begun at those sites, including John Jay College (New York); University of Tennessee-Chattanooga; St. Mary's University (Minneapolis); Horry-Georgetown Technical Campus (Conway, S.C.); New York Institute of Technology (Old Westbury, N.Y.); Brevard Community College (Melbourne, Fla.) and Central Virginia Community College (Lynchburg, Va.).
Diebold plans another 90 installations this fall in its second phase, and a final phase of 100 ATMs by the end of 2001, the release said.
Diebold operates a similar program with selected Wal-Mart and Uni-Mart locations.
