Bank Systems & Technology:While non-banks push the ATM-functionality envelope, banks haven't done much in the way of advanced kiosks. Madhavi Mantha, a senior analyst with Boston-based Celent's banking team, said differences between traditional bank and non-bank customers are to blame for the disparity. "Most of what banks are doing is deploying self-service machines for quick transactions," she said. "They've tried other transactions and customers don't want them."
