CUSO logs Cyber Monday network volume 'on par' with 2014

At its peak, traffic for ATM, branch, credit and debit activity on the Co-op Financial Services network topped out at 258 transactions processed within one second.

December 2, 2015

Transaction reports from Co-op Financial Services, the credit union industry's largest transaction processor, show that the 2015 holiday season opened on par with 2014, the CUSO said in a press rtelease.

"Our EFT and shared branch transactions by the members of our client credit unions showed a slightly higher volume on Cyber Monday compared to last year," said Co-op President and CEO Stan Hollen. "This bodes well for December retail buying, since we had a record breaking year in 2014 with more than 3 billion transactions, a figure we expect to surpass in 2015."

Debit, credit, ATM and branch transactions logged by Co-op on Nov. 30 include:

  • volume for the day: 9,421,258 transactions;
  • peak per hour: 775,455 transactions 8–9 a.m. EST;
  • peak per minute: 14,918 transactions at 10:27 a.m. EST;
  • peak per second: 258 transactions at 10:24:45 a.m. EST.

Co-op typically experiences the highest volumes of the year on Christmas Eve, the release said. On Dec. 24, 2014, the CUSO set a single-day record of 10,327,641 transactions.
