Commonwealth Bank's acquisition of Bankwest means greater ATM access for customers

PERTH, Australia — Now that Commonwealth Bank of Australia has acquired Bankwest, Bankwest customers have surcharge-free access to Commonwealth's 3,300 ATMs. And Commonwealth customers will be able to use Bankwest's more than 700 ATMs in Australia.
According to a news release, Bankwest is currently determining pricing for direct charging and foreign ATM usage. The bank plans to make an announcement as soon as a decision is made.
The expanded ATM network, which takes effect March 1, will offer Commonwealth and Bankwest customers more charge-free options, allowing those customers to avoid the direct charge fees that that take effect March 3 across Australia.
