Citizens has earned the 15th spot out of 300 U.S. companies for Newsweek's America's Most Charitable Companies 2026 rankings. The news organization looks at corporate philanthropy, volunteerism and community investment to determine rankings, according to a press release.
"This recognition reflects the depth and consistency of our commitment to the communities we serve," Bruce Van Saun, chairman and CEO of Citizens, said in the release. "From supporting small businesses and local economies to investing time, talent, and resources alongside our nonprofit partners, our colleagues play a critical role in helping communities thrive and grow."
The bank logged more than 265,000 volunteer hours in 2025, with more than 1,000 employees serving on non-profit boards.
The bank has also been honored with the 2026 Joe Belew Award from the Consumer Bankers Association for its Small Business Economic Opportunity Fund to provide education and guidance for small businesses. The program has invested more than $82 million across 13 markets.
