March 9, 2010

The Center for Financial Services Innovation kicks off the first 2010 Innovators Roundtable on March 10, with a new participating company at the table and an agenda spotlighting innovation, research and strategies that can benefit large, leading-edge companies as they work to serve underbanked consumers.   According to a news release from CFSI, Sears Holdings has joined the roundtable, sitting next to companies just as Bank of America, Citi, Experian, FIS, GE Money, Green Dot, H&R Block, LexisNexis Risk Solutions, MasterCard, Meta Payment Systems, NetSpend, U.S. Bank, Visa, Walmart and Wells Fargo.   "We believe retail POS is and will remain an effective and efficient channel for originating new credit and financial services relationships," said Susan Ehrlich, president of financial services for Sears Holdings. "The Innovators Roundtable is a valuable resource as we continually update and enhance our product offering, and is an important component of our commitment to provide best in class service for all of our customers, including those who may be financially underserved."   On the agenda at the meeting was guest organization PayPal, who was invited to discuss cross-enterprise collaboration and innovation inside PayPal as well as the value the PayPal platform provides for financial institutions.   "We're excited to bring innovative companies like Sears Holdings and PayPal to this roundtable program and share knowledge among the organizations," said Kimberly Gartner, associate director of CFSI. "The Innovators Roundtable is the only venue where underbanked champions come together to collaboratively seek the necessary knowledge, ideas and tools to profitably and appropriately meet the needs of the financially underserved, with the goal of helping this consumer segment to achieve prosperity."   The Innovators Roundtable's agenda also expected to uncover emerging innovators in the for- and non-profit financial-services arenas, highlighting research on the current payment product needs and behaviors of consumers.   For more information about the Innovators Roundtable, visit CFSI's Web site.
