With Level Four's ATM TrueTest, Rabobank Group was the Netherlands' first large FI to reach EMV compliance. Hardware costs have been cut, and software maintenance has improved.

Utrecht, Netherlands-based Rabobank Group installed Level Four's ATM and self-service environment testing solution, ATM TrueTest, to assist with its migration to EMV. In addition to improving customer service,

Rabobank wanted to introduce an automated testing environment to help it meet the impending EMV compliance deadline in Europe. In a manually intensive testing environment, meeting the deadline would have been almost impossible because of the sheer volume of work involved with the EMV project.

"Certainly the business case for testing software changed dramatically with EMV, because we had to migrate our cards and ATMs to the new standards," said Patrick Kipping, Rabobank's system development project manager. "Ensuring EMV compliance involved a level of testing we had not experienced before - we are talking hundreds of test cases. We had to get it right and iron out any problems to meet the deadline."

Since testing, Rabobank has migrated its credit cards to EMV and is using ATM TrueTest for its second phase of EMV testing. Since migrations, the bank's hardware costs have been cut by 30 percent, and software maintenance has improved 10 percent.
