Cardtronics emphasizes commitment to information security

Acknowledging the increasingly critical nature of data security, Cardtronics Inc. has added a new "C-level" position to its information technology executive leadership team: Chief Information Security Officer.

"As the operator of a global ATM fleet approaching 63,000 machines, Cardtronics has a responsibility to its clients, consumers and our shareholders to be a model of excellence in information technology and security," said Cardtronics CEO Steve Rathgaber, "The creation of a dedicated information security officer role emphasizes Cardtronics' commitment to industry-leading security systems."

The company's current CIO, Jerry Garcia, will step into the newly created CISO position, and will focus exclusively on the information security program at Cardtronics. Garcia spent the last 10 years designing and developing the information technology systems at Cardtronics.

Mike McCarthy, has joined Cardtronics as its new CIO and will assume Garcia's previous responsibilities. McCarthy was previously CIO for the credit card and retail payments businesses at FIS.
