California S&L deploys Fujitsu ATMs

March 7, 2002

LA JOLLA, Calif. -- Downey Savings and Loan Association, F.A., based in Newport Beach, Calif., has completed a rollout of more than 200 Fujitsu Model 7015 cash dispensers at supermarkets throughout Southern California and the San Francisco Bay Area.

According to Fujitsu-ICL Systems, the contract is valued at approximately $2.5 million.

Downey Savings, with more than $10 billion in assets, 107 branches and 350-plus ATM locations has deployed the cash dispensers throughout various locations in California, including Ralphs and Food 4 Less supermarkets.

"We selected Fujitsu-ICL as our supplier based on their track record for consistently good service and long history of support for Downey Savings' branch network as well as Ralphs, Vons Grocery and other non-traditional ATM and cash dispenser programs," said Penny Hawkins, vice president, Downey Savings.

The bank was also interested in the machines' ability to personalize transactions and to distribute media such as coupons and stamps, Hawkins said.
