Barclays moves to contactless Visa debit cards

Datamonitor:England-based Barclays has announced plans to roll out contactless Visa debit cards, beginning in March. Barclays debit cards that are issued or reissued in March and beyond will have contactless technology built in as standard. More than 3 million customers are expected to be using contactless debit cards by the end of 2009. The cards will still have chip and PIN, which will be used for purchases and for ATM transactions.
