February 6, 2006

BEIJING - Diebold Inc. is slated to provide nearly 300 self-service bulk cash recycle machines to the Bank of China, China's oldest bank. According to a news release, the deal brings BOC's total number of Diebold self-service units to approximately 1,000.

The bulk cash recycle machines (BCRM) accept and dispense cash, and facilitate bill payment, account inquiries and fund transfers. They also provide financial institutions with the capability of running MPEG video for advertising and branding.

"The BCRM epitomizes the most advanced-function technology of the financial self-service industry in Asia and specifically the China market," said Daniel Hu, managing director for Diebold in Greater China. "Our innovative solutions reduce our customers' operating expenses, raise productivity, enhance the consumer experience and assist the Bank of China with transforming its branches."
