Money.telegraph: One of the largest independent ATM operators in the United Kingdom, Bank Machine, is proposing to install fee-free cashpoints in every building society branch that does not already offer one.
Bank Machine already operates 1,000 ATMs, mostly in shops, leisure centres and hotels. Those machines generally charge an average of £1.50 (U.S. $2.60) to withdraw money.
Ron Delnevo, the Bank Machine managing director, said that the ATMs would be free to use. He added, "Very few building societies seem to offer cashpoint machines to customers because they are uneconomic to run."
