Wincor Nixdorf has won a contract from Banco de Venezuela to expand its ATM network by 500 machines and also to upgrade its software applications. ATM Installation for the Caracas-based public bank will begin in October and is scheduled for completion in six months. Wincor Nixdorf also will assume responsibility for maintenance of the machines.
In a pilot project last year, Banco de Venezuela installed 140 ATMs with automated check deposit modules. Based on positive customer feedback about the efficiency and functionality of the machines, the bank is adding a further 300 systems with check-deposit capability. The new multifunctional devices also enable self-service passbook transactions.
Wincor Nixdorf’s automated teller machines with intelligent deposit shorten the entire cash and check handling process. The machine uses the latest image processing technology to validate checks, and automates the entire process from end to end, eliminating the need to process checks and cash manually.
Apart from software applications to operate the systems, Banco de Venezuela is also updating the remote monitoring software solution for all of its installed systems. After this has been completed, the bank will monitor Banco de Venezuela's approximately 2,080 ATMs — including competitor systems — with Wincor Nixdorf’s ProView software.
